Nickname: Kappa Founded: 1870 Colors: Dark Blue & Light Blue Flower: Fleur-de-Lis Symbol: Golden Key Philanthropy: Love (Stanford), Reading is FUNdamental (National) Minimum GPA: 3.0 National Website: kappakappagamma.org The Beta Eta Deuteron chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma was first established on Stanford’s campus on June 10, 1892, making it the second female fraternity established at the school. 125 years later, Kappa remains a thriving presence on campus, integrating women from all walks of life and areas of campus into one sisterhood. We currently have 113 active members and look forward to welcoming more sisters to our chapter this spring. |
Sisterhood
A sisterhood of bold, passionate and committed leaders, Kappa strives not for perfection, but for excellence in all of its endeavors. Kappas are many things. Athletes, writers, dollies, research assistants, tutors, volunteers, singers, entrepreneurs — the list goes on and on. Kappa women are energetic and adventurous. Kappas are unapologetically passionate, committed, and strong-willed. When asking a Kappa why they joined a sorority’s chapter, we often hear that our members joined the Kappa community because in our chapter, they felt encouraged to be their true selves no matter what.

Our chapter’s facility on campus is located at 675 Lomita Drive. We share our house with Alpha Phi, and members of both sororities informally refer to our house as “Kappa Phi”. Outside of the Kappa Phi House, Kappa sisters spend time together at weekly chapter meetings, special dinners, formals and sisterhood events. We aim to support our members and foster community through Diversity, Equity and Inclusion seminars/office hours, career panels, and spotlights. We also love to hang out in informal settings: doing homework together, grabbing lunch at Coupa and Tressider, and spending time with our lineages (lins for short, our big and grandbig sisters <3).
While we have dues and event co-pays, Kappa works hard to make our events as accessible as possible. Members can apply for scholarships through Kappa nationals, and receive sponsorship through our house board and alumni. We aim to find a way for everyone to afford the events, and aim to use our dues to finance the additional costs. |
Philanthropy
As Kappas, we're always looking for opportunities to dream boldly and live fully as we give back and improve the world around us. In the pursuit of our mission to inspire positive change, mental health and well-being is our new philanthropic focus. We are proud to support Active Minds and the One Love Foundation through fundraising, volunteering, and philanthropic events. Values Our chapter’s goal is to make membership a meaningful experience filled with friendship, love, and empowerment. We seek to provide a strong support system for each of our members and to rethink what it means for Kappa to be an open space that accepts members of diverse backgrounds. It is our hope that when interacting with our chapter, potential new members, other Stanford students, and parents see what makes our Kappa community so special to all our members. Join Kappa–– we hope to share our family with you! |
